Inspiration (Rachael Zoe's YSL Tassel Bracelet)

Inspiration {Vintage YSL Tassel Bracelet}

Translation {Tassel Necklace}

{Necklace: Banana Republic}

As of late, I am all about accessorizing and I can't keep my eyes off of costume jewelry. I fell in love with a tassel bracelet from Rachel Zoe's personal jewelry collection. The bracelet is a vintage piece from YSL and just perfection. Tassels on the wrist is not ideal for a mom. With this piece as inspiration, I set out to find something tassel.

Banana Republic is one of my favorite spots to browse costume jewelry. One of my favorite past times is sifting through their sale basket, a jewelry treasure hunt of sorts. It is almost a shame to see all that great jewelry re-packaged in plastic ziplock bags when they were beautifully displayed and encased in all their glory just a few short weeks ago. During one of my sifting sessions, I came across this necklace and it immediately reminded me of Rachel's vintage YSL tassel bracelet. DIE!

Lookbook (Moms Club)

{Blouse: Zara, Belt: Anthropologie, Jeans: Forever 21, Shoes: Coach}

{Morgan taking stock after the Easter Egg Hunt}

First time moms need support outside the home. Having a child impacts your social circles, a new circle of friends with kids is mandatory. My local Moms Club is a support system where moms can talk to other moms, get advice, chit chat or just vent. If anything, it provides an excuse to get out of the house. In the beginning it was more of a social aspect for the moms since the babies usually slept the entire time. (Wow does that feel like ages ago.) Now the events are geared more toward the rug rats and a time for them to get their wiggles out in hopes of a nice long afternoon nap.

For the Moms club event (Easter Part 2) the look today was a little preppy chic. Acquired on a trip to L.A. last fall, this pintuck button up blouse from Zara has been hanging in my closet begging to be worn. To give the look a little shape, I paired it with an adorable flower sash from Anthropologie. The cigarette jean is another great purchase from Forever 21. I love that I didn't have to hem them, a rarity, and I love that I found a back up pair on sale for $5. Of course the couture mom's outfit is not complete without a pair of wedges.

Lookbook (Around Town)

{Blazer: Diane von Furstenberg, Top: Forever 21, Necklace: Target
Sunglasses: Cynthia Rowley, Purse: Zara, Shoes: Forever 21}

Lookbook is a special feature of my "Outfit of the Day". At the bottom of each Lookbook post, you'll find hand picked pieces based on my OOTD available online via Shopstyle.

This first look is typical of my style. As you know, running around town with a toddler is hard to do in anything but flats. The leopard ballet flats from Forever 21 were just $7.50, and would you believe that they are totally comfortable? Another one of my most recent purchases are the Cynthia Rowley cat eye sunglasses from Marshalls. The cat eye is a timeless shape, and hot for this Spring. I've been lemming for a pair and searching high and low for the perfect pair. These were definitely a find for $14. I am obsessing the multi-strand necklace from Target that I bought a few months ago. It goes with everything, dressed up or down. I love to mix high and low brands and if you invest in staples like this blazer from DVF you will reach for it often.

Bag Hag

{MARC by Marc Jabos Classic Hillier Hobo}

We are this close to having Morgan potty trained. I am so over diaper changes and so ready to dump the "Diapies & Wipees" bag and return to the world of totes and hobos. Not quite yet. I've come to realize that nothing suits a mom better than a cross body bag. With a cross body bag any Super Mom can sling it over her shoulder and grab the kid, keeping her out of harms way, all the while lugging 5 bags of groceries to the car. Just another compromise in the world of motherhood. Compromise never looked better than a Marc Jacobs Hillier Hobo. The best of both worlds, this hobo has a strap that can be worn cross body or as a shoulder bag.

Bloomingdales recently had their friends and family event and I took the opportunity to invest in the luscious leather Marc Jacobs is known for. If you know me I avoid paying retail at all costs. I saved almost 40% off of this purchase using a combination of discounts and rebates. Stay tuned and I'll let you in on the scoop of how I discount shop.

Target Tuesdays

Target is my go to store for one stop shopping. If I am there to pick up a few grocery items, I can't help but to pop into the clothing & accessories department or the health and beauty aisle for a brief look see. Tuesday posts will be dedicated to Target finds.

Mossismo Juniors Pocket Tee: The boyfriend trend is sticking around and this is my pick for a great boyfriend tee. Fit is still loose and flattering on the female body. This forest green color is a great neutral. White is always classic and I have more than one because the fit is that good. At $8 a pop, get several staple colors.

Conair Instant Heat Jumbo Rollers: Seem a little old school? The key here are the size of the hot rollers. When I am short on time I put these rollers in and let them "set" while I do my make up. The result is a ton of volume with a little wave. My only complaint are the pins that come with the set. I replaced them with roller clips from Sally's Beauty Supply, they hold the rollers so much better.

Dr. Mom

Moms, does something look familiar? The hubby came home from the gym with two large gashes on his leg. Dr. Mom to the rescue. Because Morgan insists on putting no less than 10 bandages on her imaginary "boo boos" we had nothing but the mini bandages left in the emergency kit. Both gashes were hemorrhaging pretty good and the only thing that I had in the very back corner of the medicine cabinet was an old box of nursing pads. I knew that they were sterile and absorbed well so I handed the pad over and told him not to ask any questions. Worked like a charm. It served its purposed until I was able to get to the store and get the appropriate dressing. In emergency situations you have to do what you have to do.

Never Empty Handed

As the saying goes, never go to a party empty handed. Headed to an Easter dinner I thought a carrot cake with whipped cream cheese was perfect for the occasion. As usual my junior sous chef was right there to help in the preparation of this decadent dessert.

{Cardigan: Topshop}

As soon as I walked through that door I knew I was back "on." Motherhood calls and I how I missed my little girl. Refreshed and ready to go, I made sure the the Easter Bunny dropped off a basket of goodies. In pig tails and matching dresses, Morgan and her dolly headed out in search of Easter eggs which were strategically hidden in plane site. The child in me really loves each holiday as much has Morgan does, but there really is nothing like seeing the world through the eyes of a child. I'm glad to be home.

Pregnancy Bliss

{Blazer: Armani Exchange, Tank: Kate Spade,
Jeans: Vigoss, Shoes: Forever 21, Bangles:JCrew & Chanel}

My very dear friend, Heather, is entering the realm of motherhood. Due in July, Heather is just ecstatic at the thought of becoming a mother. She is just a sponge trying to soak up any and all information to prepare for the bundle of joy. Heather defintely has that pregnancy glow going on. A recent newlywed, she lives in Asia with her husband who is working internationally. I am so jealous of the fact that in Asia, many of the luxuries moms would give their left arm for, come with a small price tag. Shampoo, scalp massage and blow out for $6. How about a massage for $5? Say what?! How can I convince my husband to relocate?

Dinner at Delphine's in the new W Hotel Hollywood. Adorable restaurant serving French Bistro fare, I had the most delectable Rich Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Dacquoise Cake. OMG, so good. After catching up during dinner and dessert we headed to the hotel lobby for a few drinks. This new hot spot, typical of the Hollywood scene, made me thankful to be married. Great place to people watch though. Best part was chatting and laughing with friends, can't beat great conversation.
